Important Coverage for Important Drivers
Truckers are the backbone of the U.S. economy. AIS will help you protect your trucking business while remaining compliant with state and federal regulations. We search through multiple insurance companies and shop various Truck Insurance policies to find you the best fit for your line of business and type of truck.
Basic Coverages
Trucking businesses must obtain Tractor Truck Liability. After all, the risks and potential liabilities of a commercial truck are very different from other vehicles. Most companies tend to carry more comprehensive coverages. Whether you have an ice cream truck, a cargo van, or a truck tractor (including long-haul trucking), we’ve got the right coverage for you.
Types of Coverage to Know For Commercial Trucking Insurance
Business Insurance transfers the financial consequences of a covered incident to the insurance carrier. Being correctly insured allows you to conduct your business knowing you're financially protected in the case of a mishap.
Your type of coverage and cost will depend on various factors such as the type of business, location, driving radius, vehicle type, and more. A Business Insurance specialist will help you evaluate your liabilities and build the proper coverage. Here are the types of insurance coverages you can buy:
Collision coverage may pay for damages as a result of impact with another vehicle, object, or person outside the vehicle, and the upset (overturning) of such vehicle. This coverage is often subject to a deductible.
Comprehensive coverage may pay for direct and accidental damage to the insured's automobile not caused by a collision. For example, damage caused by vandalism. This coverage is usually subject to a deductible.
This coverage can cover liability for a third party’s property, consisting of cargo hauled or transported by the trucker (common carrier or contract carrier).
Non-owned Trailer coverage extends to trailers not owned by your business but that are in use by your company.
Non-trucking Liability coverage may protect you from covered losses as a result of using your truck while not on dispatch and under someone's authority.
This insurance coverage reimburses the cost of a rental vehicle up to the amount agreed to on an insurance policy. Rental Reimbursement may be purchased for a vehicle covered by Comprehensive, Fire-Theft, and Collision coverage.
Different from Rental Reimbursement above, this coverage helps cover the cost of renting a vehicle to temporarily replace an insured vehicle due to a covered loss. This coverage may assist in locating a comparable replacement to keep your business operating. If a reasonable replacement vehicle can’t be located, the carrier may pay for downtime.
Trailer Interchange coverage is for physical damage to a trailer as a result of being pulled.
Tractor Truck Liability may cover physical injury and property damage. It may also cover pain and suffering, death, and loss of income. The limits on this coverage can be as high as $2MM.
This is a very important coverage. It may (1) pay for the insured’s injuries caused by an accident deemed the fault of an uninsured motorist, (2) cover the bodily-injury expense of the insured driver and their and passengers. This type of coverage is generally written with a per-person and per-occurrence limit. Example: Your truck is involved in an accident. You're unable to arrange a temporary truck, forcing you not to work and lose out on $350 of pay each day unless you have Rental Reimbursement with Downtime coverage.
